While we do believe in an increased vegetable intake, cancer is much more prevalent in those who lack certain nutrients and proteins. While meat eaters (sausage sandwiches, double cheeseburgers, etc) tend to die of colon cancer, vegetarians die a lot more often from stomach cancer than meat eaters. We realize vegetarian diets have become more and more prevalent and popular in the latter years.
However, going completely vegan might not be the best method to follow. Many individuals already wonder instinctually if they themselves or if their family can safely follow a vegetarian diet and still get all the nutrients necessary for growing, becoming healthy and even getting strong, let alone do all of this well into our senior years.
Most dietary and medical experts agree that a properly structured vegetarian diet is healthy but it still lacking in some areas and no amount of arguing is going to replace your lost nutrients. This is because the things that are missing are meant to be ingested through the foods a vegetarian avoids.
Pills, powders, and oils will not supply what you refuse to eat... Data is strong that vegetarians are at lesser risk for obesity, constipation, lung cancer, and alcoholism. Evidence is good that risks for hypertension, coronary artery disease, type II diabetes, and gallstones are lower. These are grand reasons to investigate this lifestyle.
But it is only fair to point out that the risks of breast tumors, Diverticulitis, some forms of cancer, kidney stones, osteoporosis, dental erosion, and dental issues exists quite prevalently in vegetarians. In fact, most health issues associated with meat eaters are also associated with non-meat eaters.
In regards to extreme cases of the obese who survive off a regular diet of sausages, pancakes, and various fast food meals, you must take into account the moderate meat eaters who are in the fittest of conditions often sought by those turning their cheeks to animal products.
Vegans tend to have enzyme issues (supplementing doesn't help, it shuts the body's production of its own natural enzymes even further down) and many other protein deficient ailments.... All these problems can be solved by selecting organic dairy proteins and following the food separation theory. But will you?
If you're currently a vegetarian, we want you to continue on living that lifestyle. We won't twist your arm to do anything you do not want to, no problem there, but we will show you the smarter way to go about doing things.
If you listen to what we suggest, you can not only avoid the number one killers of vegetarians, heart disease and stomach cancer but begin to look, feel, perform and think even better than ever imagined. And meat isn't the answer. That's a promise.
