CLIENT SUBMITTED ARTICLE
A client originally submitted this article on Book Three to me. They were so excited over their results that they apparently felt compelled to author themselves apiece. With their permission, I have added my own comments on mindsets. People with "past" mindsets are all around us and they spend a lot of time reflecting on the time they did this' or that' in their lives but really have no point to make. They like talking about how it used to be, the time when they felt good about themselves rather than looking forward and creating a better life for their future. I suppose that is because it is easier to live in the past than to try to figure out what to do to get out of a rut. We all know people like this. I was one myself.
Life is simple. Change your mindset, change your outlook, and change your life. Imagine, just 30 days from now, having the fit, healthy body you've always wanted and not changing anything but your views on eating and exercising. Imagine having the energy to be at your best during all waking hours, having the confidence to complete things on your "To Do" list, having mental clarity to stay on top of your peers, and knowing that you really do have what it takes to turn your life around to get ahead.
If this sounds nearly impossible or nothing like the person you are today, maybe it is time you were introduced to Don Lemmon's Know How, Book Three, the "Complete Lifestyle Journal" AKA Refuse To Fail.
When I was working in a physical therapy office, an extremely overweight lady was always hanging around the coffee maker in the morning complaining about various celebrity patients that did not look as good in person as they did in the tabloids. The fact is she hated that some starlets were "skinny" and she was obese, despite being skinny in the past.
This type of person is not going to accept new ideas very quickly, and they have trouble sticking with anything they do to make changes in any area of their life. This is why they rarely succeed at something as simple as losing fat or building muscle. Moving forward for them is a risk because it removes them from where they really want to be. They want to believe people accept them even though they do not accept themselves or anyone else.
What is worse is that they are visibly and verbally uncomfortable with the growth of others around them because it only reminds them that the current structure of their lives is full of negativity and self-loathing. These peoples' lives are full of non-productive activities, and detrimental behavior such as, time wasting hobbies, and interests most people would not bother with not to mention sexual confusion. Some are compulsive liars with the knowledge they are wasting their time and even their lives away.
If this is you, just by being here now, constitutes a step in the right direction. You would not be reading this if you were not ready to improve. It is not very likely that you are going to remain the type of person we all dread bumping into at work. You are one of many who come here and admit they want to build a better body. Nevertheless, we know all about mindsets and the traps that can hold a person back. Whenever I give people like you the right direction to go in, they succeed very quickly. Sometimes we need a push to break the negative mindset we have always depended on to keep us from making a decision to do something positive - to look ahead in life instead of focusing so much on the past. Now, on the other hand, if a person is governed by a goal oriented belief system, they too need a little direction, because they are constantly taking on new and bigger challenges and tend to want to quit if the schedule changes. Not putting too much on your plate and knowing where to begin, is key.
Accept that you are always going to be creating, modifying, and improving the road map if you want results. You use your experiences to develop skills to get where you want to be. This is ideal. When you develop a goal oriented plan, you automatically propel yourself towards growth and improvement. You will not have to force yourself to do well or regret doing anything, ever again. There is no frustration. Moreover, every time you accomplish a minor achievement on the path towards the big goal, you get to experience ongoing and noticeable self-improvement.
Any self-made person knew exactly where they wanted to be and researched what was needed to accomplish their goals in increments of a few months at a time. If you adopt this same system, one I use, you may suddenly know exactly where you want to be a decade ahead of time.
Think of the nerd-iest movie star you know of. That little nerd said he or she could and would be stars and they DID just what they planned to. The same goes for bodybuilders and fitness stars. They are not in that condition year-round. Some of them do not own cars, have steady jobs, or even a good roof over their head. But they succeeded at achieving their goals. If nerds battling the good-looking Hollywood stereotypes can do it, or if fitness buffs can overcome their personal problems, then there is nothing you cannot do either.
