I spent an entire year of my life bodybuilding and put on enough muscle to go from 186 pounds to 274 pounds. How did I achieve my goal of The Ultimate Development, read on?
It began about 4 months before my 24th birthday. I weighed in at 186 pounds and within a month, I weighed 200 pounds. By the end of June, I weighed 210. On September 4th, I weighed 220. I gained 40 pounds those first 4 months using nothing but barbells, dumbbells, eating clean food, and taking basic supplements (vitamins, minerals, glandulars, protein and herbs) and I was by no means, close to my goal weight. By Thanksgiving, I weighed 235, and on Valentine's Day, 245. Come springtime, I was 260 pounds, and by the summer of 1994... 274... 100% DRUG FREE!
I have since worked (in one capacity or another), with the winners of every pro physique contest, and I have plenty to say about drug use. I have seen what competitors do to their bodies to prepare for a contest, and know all about the fine art of becoming an obsessive, compulsive wreck along the way. Building muscle and dropping body fat should not be a burden.
Competitive bodybuilders are judged based on muscular size, shape, definition, density, proportion, and visual presentation. Bodybuilders generally train for muscular size during the off-season and then work to reduce their body fat months before their shows. The body fat of male competitive bodybuilders during the off-season should never be higher than 10% (15% for women). Unfortunately, we see these athletes ballooning up to 20 and 30% body fat.
In an effort to reduce this obesity towards a competitive body weight, bodybuilders typically employ restrictive dietary practices, intense training, and steroids. None of which are healthy and none of which are necessary. Lazy people take short cuts. Smart ones apply their brains to the task.
Bodybuilders of all weight classes require different caloric intakes but so many people think all it takes is eating like Arnold Schwarzenegger to look like him. Others have no idea what they are actually putting into their bodies because they fail to read labels, and study their foods.
Within days after a contest, bodybuilders have been known to rapidly gain weight because their bodies rebel, and like people coming off any strict, low calorie diet, they tend to overeat. There is a smarter, easier way to gradually increase your food intake and maintain your physical achievements, staying lean all year long.
While it is true that the biggest names in the industry are users of illegal substances, that is their problem, not yours. Did we mention that nothing inside this book is available in any other of Don Lemmon's Know How releases? The bottom line is that there is a way to get results without using steroids for bodybuilding or that lean and mean look fitness models have, and it is right here in The Ultimate Development.
